Prefeasibility Access Road Design-Revised
4
WYDOT, USFS, CROOK COUNTY Compliance/Design Standards
The alignments have been revised based on survey information and the use of
FUGRO Horizons flight data and provide routes which have grades of 6% or less and
meet the requirements of a 40 mph design speed.
A blowing snow analysis has been performed to maximize snow storage and
minimize blowing snow build up on the roadway. The road section will meet
blowing snow criteria while minimizing the area of impact of the road. Using the
refined road section for large cuts, the back slopes will be allowed to be steepened
to 2:1 in areas which are needed to reduce the area of impact due to large cuts and
adjacent topography. Trees in the Forest Service property will act as a snow fence
and help reduce the blowing snow accumulation. See Section IX for more details on
blowing snow analysis. Below is a table showing the road design criteria for a typical
section and for the refined cut and fill sections described above.
